INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
Hot Mess along with Neighbourhood Centres of Bellingen Shire proudly present the 3rd annual International Women’s Day MusicFest in partnership with Women’s NSW. Join us at the Urunga Riverstage on Sunday 8 March 2026, from 10:30am - 6pm, for a vibrant, joyful and free day of music, workshops, speakers and market stalls.
This community event celebrates women’s creativity, diversity, resilience and contributions in a joyful, powerful day of music and connection. A fantastic line-up of artists will perform throughout the day, headlined by the incredible Pam Hata, with her upbeat, soulful blend of R&B and folk. Originally from Aotearoa/New Zealand, Pam brings warmth, infectious energy and humour to the stage. We’re also thrilled to welcome Wild Thyme with their brilliant bluegrass and original tunes, and organisers Hot Mess, turning up the volume with their irreverent menopausal rock. From folk to choir to punk, there’s something for everyone.
The day opens with a Welcome from Aunty Frances Witt and Aunty Alison Buchanan, followed by the spectacular Budaabang Bari dancers. Audiences will also be treated to Waveney’s heartfelt lyrics and beautiful vocals, Cosmic Crumb (Ben Flatt), a multi-instrumentalist “pixie troubadour,” and Anita and Jane from legendary band GI Jane. Allira Williams brings guitar and storytelling to foster connection and get us grooving, while local favourite Snez shares songs inspired by her Macedonian heritage. The Girrwa Duguula Choir will be move the audience with traditional and contemporary songs in Gumbaynggirr. Then come the bands with Hey Jane, a collective of women musicians bringing their magic of connection as they blend folk and ‘girl band’ vibes, before Hot Mess, Wild Thyme and Pam Hata close out the stage.
Beyond the music, the festival features weaving and women’s self-defence workshops, inspiring speakers, face painting, kids’ activities and vibrant market stalls. Held alongside the Urunga Markets at Morgo Street Reserve, the day promises a welcoming, heart-filled community atmosphere.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Balance the Scales, calls for a future where every woman and girl is safe, heard and free to shape her own path. MusicFest embraces that spirit, creating a safe, inclusive and celebratory space for all. We’re proud to stand alongside a diverse global movement advocating for women’s rights and justice, especially for those who continue to bear the greatest burdens and lead with courage and care.
All are warmly invited to gather, connect and celebrate.
