-
Pride Club is a youth support group coordinated by Bellingen Nambucca Youth Services for same-sex attracted and gender diverse young people aged 12-21.
The group aims to create inclusive friendship connections, a sense of belonging, and a safe space for young people.
BNYS recognises that a range of factors increase mental health risks for LGBT+ young people. These include shame and self-hatred, depression and anxiety, minority stress, accumulation of traumatic micro aggressions from homophobic and transphobic behaviours, as well as social isolation and family conflict.
-
The Dorrigo Youth Centre operates an after-school drop-in program on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00pm.
Drop-in is a fun safe space where young people can hang out, play games, create art, access wifi and printing, watch movies, share meals, and engage with supportive adult mentors.
Supported by a BNYS Youthworker and a dedicated group of local volunteers, the group has lots of room to grow and develop.
